Run a cozy little cat café during the day and rescue cat spirits at night... a dream come true... right?

A cat café called heaven is a small game created within the span of 72 hours as part of Minijam 119 with the theme "heaven" and the limitation "Everything Can Die".

We created this project with the goal of improving our workflow and my asset creation as well as our personal goal of making a cat café themed game.

Design:
We created two different scenes for this game. The daytime café and the night time cat rescue.

During the day the players have to take care of the plants and feed the fish, which will replenish their cat-catching equipment for the evening. To adhere to the theme, the players can overwater and overfeed the fish, killing them and resulting in no resources for the night.

At night you throw fish at chonky ghost cats to gain their love and add them to your cafe. Other cats are playful and are lured by waving cattails at them until they follow you.

Art:
I designed the outdoor environment assets to be as modular as possible to create a beautiful neighbourhood the players can explore. I imported the assets into Unity to assemble, making sure the two street ends are similar to create a looping world.

The indoor environment is vertical, opposing the long horizontal outdoor scene. With each night and a successfully caught cat, a cat is added to the café.

A personal goal for this jam was creating more character sprites to make the player character more lively and improve my game-character art skills. The character has 3 different poses: idle, run, jump, an idle and throwing version for each item, and an extra café boba idle.

I also created small custom UI and main menu art to match the style of the game.
